Parking accounts and parking spaces

The information  Parking Accounts and Parking Spaces (Excel doc) [12KB] is a summary only.  Regulations for each individual car park are available in the car park and should be carefully checked before parking there.  You can also check the Car Parks for more information, including the Council's Regulations. There are different provisions for certain classes of vehicles and holders of certain permits, and not all classes of vehicles are permitted in all car parks.  Disabled Badge Holders are permitted to park for free in all car parks but must still abide by the time limits. Where there are no dedicated disabled parking bays, Disabled Badge Holders may use any bay.

All of the car parks listed in this table are off-street parking places owned, provided and controlled by Gosport Borough Council under the Gosport Borough Council (Off-Street Parking Places)(Civil Parking Enforcement) Order 2020.

Also listed in the Council's parking Order are some Parking Spaces located on land which is adopted highway (Excel doc) [11KB] , which the Council provides as agent for Hampshire County Council.

Parking account information is not provided.  This is because Gosport Borough Council's off-street parking provision is provided under sections 32 and 35 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and is not 'designated' for the purposes of section 55 of the same Act.  Therefore, the requirements in paragraph 36 of the Local Government Transparency Code 2014 do not apply because the Council is not required to keep a parking account or account for any surplus generated by parking charges.
