Leaseholder buildings Insurance

Gosport Borough Council must ensure the building to which your leasehold property is located is adequately insured. We can arrange this for you through our blanket insurance policy with Zurich Municipal, in which case you will receive a separate invoice in June each year.

If you prefer to arrange your own private buildings insurance you are permitted to do so, provided you supply us annually with a copy of your building insurance schedule, showing the address, dates covered and amount insured.

The Zurich Municipal insurance is for the structure of the building to which your leasehold property is located, not contents. We strongly recommend that you arrange your own contents insurance to cover your belongings and your home against risks such as flooding, fire or theft.

How to pay your Leaseholder Buildings Insurance?

•     By Direct Debit form - leaseholders (PDF) [205KB]  on the 1st or 15th of each month.
•     By Telephone: 023 9254 5686
•     By  Standing Order - Housing (PDF) [109KB] monthly, weekly or fortnightly.
•     At the Town Hall by visiting the cashiers between 9am and 4.45pm, Monday to Friday.
•     Online payments
•     By Post: Send a cheque payable to 'Gosport Borough Council'.

Reminder - The reference number for a leasehold Buildings Insurance account will be your normal leaseholder reference number followed by '/LB01'
