Gosport Community Events Fund

WELCOME PAGE

Introduction

The Council is keen to support inclusive community events in the Borough that bring people together, celebrate and enhance local attractions/amenities, provide local opportunities and contribute to the local economy. This fund allows the Council to award grants of up to £10,000 (but no more than 90% of eligible costs) to organisations and groups that meet its priorities and criteria.

The Council receives more grant requests than it can fund and uses the information provided to assess each application so please fully answer questions on the application form, including supporting documents as requested and ensure plans and costs are realistic.

Please see the Council's guidance on Planning a public event and Safety Advisory Group (SAG) protocol for event with over 500 attendees.

What are we looking for?

The Events Fund has four funding priorities and you will need to address at least one of these:

  • Enhancing community places and spaces
  • Bringing people together and building stronger communities
  • Improving sustainability and tackling climate change
  • Developing people, skills and opportunities

Funding awards will be looked on more favourably where applications can demonstrate:

  • A strong evidence of need.
  • The proposed approach is likely to achieve the desired outcomes.
  • Staffing costs do not constitute a significant portion of the amount requested
  • A lasting benefit can be achieved.
  • It meets more than one of the four funding priorities.
  • Match funding is evidenced and demonstrates organisational commitment.
  • It will benefit a significant number of people.
  • Public benefit outweighs any private gain.
