Summer in Gosport events continue - with weather changes

The council's programme of free summer events is rolling on, but with changes to tomorrow's schedule following forecasts of bad weather.

Tomorrow (5 August) sees more free family entertainment in the town centre from 10am to 3pm, with face painting and Punch and Judy. Freddie the saxophonist is scheduled to perform at 2pm. Weather forecasts mean the sessions will be now hosted in Gosport Museum and Art Gallery (GMAG) with planned go-kart sessions cancelled. Children's crafts will be hosted at the Imagination Refinery in the High Street by English Heritage.

The council's Arts in the Parks programme of free events was due to kick off tomorrow with live music at Bridgemary Park. This event will also now happen at GMAG instead. At 10am, international vocalist Aled Price will be performing classics from artists including Elvis, The Beatles, The Monkees, Erasure, Culture Club and The Killers.

Arts in the Parks is a series of free magical, musical and family-friendly events across the borough through August, hosted by the council for a second year. The events run until 26 August at local spaces including Stanley Park, Priddy's Hard, Elson Recreation Ground and Oxstall Meadows.

Cllr Robert Hylands, Deputy Leader of the Council, said: "Following last weekend's successful Party in the Park, our season of free events planned for local parks and open spaces will continue. It will bring live performances, inspiring art works and family fun to venues all over Gosport. This is a chance to enjoy something really special - and all for free.

"Meanwhile, our free family fun events on Saturdays continue in the town centre.

"As always, the weather can be a challenge, so please keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates and venue changes."

Hampshire Cultural Trust is running the Arts in the Parks events on behalf of the council. The trust is working with Without Walls, a consortium of festivals and arts organisations bringing outdoor arts to people across England, on three of the events.

The rest of the Arts in the Parks programme is:
