Volunteer vacancies

Did you know an ICM survey in 2004 reported that some people who volunteer more than 5 times per year say that volunteering has helped them lose weight and others to cut down on drinking and smoking?  So, whatever your New Year's resolution this year, come and join the more than 11 million people in the UK who volunteer at least once a month.  Whatever the reason - helping others, meeting new people, learning new skills - volunteering is a rewarding experience.

Are you keen to put your management/leadership skills to good use?

Become a trustee in Gosport and help to make sure an organisation is heading in the right direction and doing what it was set up to do. You don't have to get involved in the detailed, day-to-day running of the group; that's usually the job of the paid co-ordinator but you might need to appoint and support key paid staff and keep a check on its finances and activities. However, in a small organisation trustees may wear several hats - including those of chief executive or manager and if you are recently retired and looking for a real challenge but with a much smaller time commitment, this could be the role for you.

Trustees are the people responsible for ensuring that an organisation has a clear strategy, that it remains true to its original vision, and that it complies with all necessary rules and legal obligations. At the Volunteer Centre, we have information (including role descriptions) about a wide range of Trustee vacancies in the local area. We can also provide you with details of day and evening training courses or e-learning materials to prepare you for your new role and responsibilities. If you have particular skills, we may be able to work with an organisation to tailor a role to make best use of your experience and abilities.
