Shutters

The use of solid shutters is considered inappropriate for shopfronts in Listed Buildings or other buildings within Conservation Areas. Where shutters are required, preference should be given to the use of internal shutters of mesh or pierced type that allows the window display to be visible when the shutters are closed. Supplementary guidance on shutters is to be issued and should be consulted before purchase. Permanent external shutters require express planning consent from the Local Planning Authority where they project beyond the existing face of the building.
