Gosport's Story

GOS_VI_191008 .jpg image

There was a consensus amongst local business, community and public sector leaders that Gosport punches below its weight, that the reality of the place is way better than its image. As a result its potential was not being recognised or realised.

Therefore it was agreed that Gosport should develop a forward-looking place story at the heart of a new place led marketing approach for the town. Following stakeholder engagement and consultant input Gosport's Story was created to articulate the distinctiveness, character and characteristics of Gosport - highlighting what makes us special and the opportunities for development and promotion. It explains our future vision and summarises our shared passion for change.

The aim is to get as many people and organisations as possible to 'tell and sell' the Gosport Story to their networks and contacts i.e. become Gosport Ambassadors and use the related visual language, imagery and photography in their marketing collateral.

Introducing the story and its expression

The Gosport visual expression has been created to reflect Gosport's 'big idea' and themes. Gosport's visual expression is made up of various elements including a unique visual language, visual identities, colour palette, typefaces and photography. We are keen that it is used as widely as possible to help deliver a consistent message to a range of different audiences.

The Gosport Toolkit shows you the multiple ways in which the Gosport visual expression can be used in marketing collateral.

As you will see from the Toolkit it is essential that the visual language is not used in its entirety but rather in a cropped format that is not scaled down so that it has a key presence. The front cover of the Celebrate Gosport 2023 Event Guide is an example of how the Council has used the visual language in a cropped format.

The Gosport Story logo, artwork and photography (accessed below) are all free to use, all we ask is that you follow the Toolkit guidance to retain quality and consistency. You can also read and download Gosport's Story via the PDF files link below.
